Packing when moving house or offices

All types of boxes are available including wardrobe cartons.  C&R offer box loans and can deliver boxes in advance of your move. High grade, quality packaging is available from the C&R store in Louth, including reams of paper, tape and bubble wrap as well as boxes.

We offer a professional packing service from our fully trained staff.

C&R are experts in export and overseas wrapping. A partial pack of your fragile items by our team may be useful if you have a lot of glassware.

An optional cleaning service can be arranged, including the cleaning of windows so that you leave your house in a spick and span condition for the next home owner moving in.

Packing Guide

  • Quality storage boxes & packing materials offer better protection from any damage.
  • Get each box as full as possible. Partly filled boxes are more likely to tip or collapse.
  • Choose smaller boxes for heavy items like books and plates, and larger boxes for lighter items such as bedding and curtains. This will also make your boxes easier to lift.
  • Make sure you label every box, this makes it easier to find later Either labell with room or number your boxes with a waterproof marker.
  • Write ‘THIS WAY UP’ and ‘FRAGILE’ on all boxes that contain breakables.
  • Use bubble wrap or acid free tissue to protect fragile goods. Wrap delicate items with the bubblewrao facing inwards for added protection.
  • If you are storing clothes for a long time best to use a wardrobe box as this allows you to hang your clothes in storage, which keeps their shape and givesthem room to breathe.
  • We strongly advise against using bin bags. They easily rip, get easily squashed and lack ventilation which can mean mildew may build up on fabrics.
  • Perhaps use vacuum storage system bags that actually sucks air out of specially designed bags to help you fit more clothes into your space.
  • If bed frames can be disassembled, do so as makes them easier to store.
  • Clean garden equipment before you store it.
  • Protect table legs with bubble wrap and protect varnished furniture against scratches by using shrink
wrap, corrugated cardboard or tissue paper to protect the surface.
  • Protect pictures and mirrors with bubblewrap. Clearly mark them ‘FRAGILE’. Large ones should be stacked on their end.
  • Make sure fridges and freezers are defrosted and cleaned before storing. Use shrink wrap to keep fridge and freezer doors closed in transit.

    How To Assemble Packing Boxes
    • Take the bottom of box
    • Fold the two smaller flaps of box
    • Fold the two larger flaps of box
    • Seal with quality packing tape.
    • Tape a strip along the joint and approximately six inches up the sides. Do not inter lock flaps as this will weaken the structure and you can find that when it is picked up everything drops though the bottom of an unfolding removal box!
    • Mark boxes with think pen so that you will recognize them. For instance, contents and/or room destination at your new home; name and box number if it is going into storage.
    • C&R’s professional tip. Heavier items should be packed into smaller boxes.
